Hand-built, not templated
Every line of code is written around your business. No page builder, no theme someone else is also using two towns over.
Websites for manufacturers, engineers and trades in a town built on making things. Thirty-five minutes down the A120.

Uncommon Web Design builds websites for businesses in Braintree, thirty-five minutes straight down the A120. Manufacturers and engineering firms on Springwood Industrial Estate, trades and construction companies, distributors and B2B services — the furthest town we cover as standard, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend we are round the corner.
Braintree is a town that has made things for two hundred years, and a lot of businesses here are still genuinely good at it. What tends to let them down is the shop window. Capable engineering firm, thirty years of work behind it, and a website that looks like it was put together as an afterthought by whoever had a spare afternoon. Buyers do notice.
Every line of code is written around your business. No page builder, no theme someone else is also using two towns over.
Speed-optimised and mobile-first, structured so Google can read it properly. Most of your visitors arrive on a phone.
A built-in CMS you actually get shown how to use. Change your prices, hours or photos without a developer or another invoice.
The industrial history here is not decorative. George Courtauld set up a silk throwing business near Braintree in 1799 and moved into the town in 1818; by 1850 the family employed over two thousand people across three silk mills, and the money built the town hall, the hospital and schools that are still standing. The Warner Textile Archive in the town holds the second largest publicly owned textile collection in the country after the V&A. That manufacturing instinct never really left — it just moved to Springwood Industrial Estate, Springwood Drive and the Braintree Enterprise Centre, and out along the A120.
Alongside it, Braintree Village pulls in shoppers from a wide catchment with its own station and a large free car park, which supports a whole retail and hospitality layer that has nothing to do with engineering. Two quite different economies in one town, and both are underserved by the same thing: websites built years ago that no longer explain what the business does or work properly on a phone.
The sensible first move for an established firm that has gone years without a decent site and does not want a six-month project to fix it.
For engineering and manufacturing businesses whose product range and technical specifications need organising properly, not listing on one long page.
Spec finders, downloadable data sheets and quote tools — the things that let a buyer qualify themselves before they ever contact you.
Braintree businesses compete with Chelmsford and Colchester for the same searches, which makes the local signals worth getting exactly right.
Effective for niche industrial products where the search volume is low but every genuine enquiry is worth a great deal.

Thirty-five minutes straight down the A120 with no motorway involved. It is the longest run of any town we cover as standard, and we are not going to pretend otherwise — but it is one road, and it is an easy morning. We will come out for the first meeting, and for anything where being in the building genuinely helps. The rest we handle remotely, which is what most clients prefer anyway.
Yes. It is thirty-five minutes down the A120 and it is the furthest town we cover as standard, which we would rather state plainly than have you find out later. In practice it means we come out when there is a reason to and work remotely the rest of the time — which is how most projects run regardless of distance.
